MEMBERS
Matthew A. Williams,
President
Mr.
Williams is a Charlotte native, graduating from Charlotte
Country Day School, followed by North Carolina State University
in 2000, with a BS Degree in Business Management and a
concentration in Marketing.
Matt is currently Vice President of Metrolina Builders, Inc, a
Charlotte-based General Contracting
firm, founded in 1972. His responsibilities include business
development, marketing, strategic planning and organizational
management. Matt also manages the Pre-Construction Department,
responsible for pre-construction services including site
selection/evaluation, design coordination, estimating,
permitting and re-zonings.
Matt has helped organize two important groups of young
professionals in Charlotte. In 2004, he co-founded Charlotte
Succession. Matt served on the Board of Directors for Succession
from its inception in 2004 until 2007 and also served as the
Membership Committee Chairman. In 2005, Matt was part of the
original group of young professionals in the local Real Estate
and Development community that organized the first Young Leaders
Group for the Charlotte chapter of The Urban Land Institute -- a
global organization focused on providing leadership in the
responsible use of land. The Young Leaders Group is a membership
classification for individuals under the age of 35, providing
programs and educational events open to both
regular and young leader members, as well as mentoring
opportunities through its Partnership Forums. Matt has been on
the Steering Committee since the inception of the Young Leaders
Group (which now totals close to 200 members) and has been
actively involved on the Programs Committee, chairing the
committee from 2005-2007.
Matt, his wife Shawn, and three children Conner, Bennett, and
Davis reside in the Southpark area of Charlotte and are members
of Carmel Country Club and Myers Park Presbyterian Church.
Ben
Dobson, Vice President
Ben grew
up in Charlotte, graduating from Charlotte Country Day and then from
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in
economics.
Ben served as a comprehensive financial planner for Consolidated
Planning Inc. for 4 years. He has since transitioned to the group
side of the insurance business with Corporate Benefit Advisors.
In addition to serving on the Board of Succession, Ben also helped
launch the Young Selwyn Society, a fundraising group for Charlotte
Country Day as well as participates on the Young Alumni Committee
for Country Day.
Ben and his wife Sarah are members of Myers Park Methodist Church.
Scott Cannady, Secretary
Scott joined First Citizens Bank’s Private Wealth Advisory
Services as a Client Advisor in 2005. Scott has over 10 years of
experience in Private Banking, Trust, Investment Management, and
Financial Planning. He is a Certified Financial Planner and
graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina State University
with a BS in Business Management and concentration in Finance.
Scott holds the Series 7 & 66 Securities License in addition to
the NC Life & Health License. He is an active member of the
Charlotte Estate Planning Council, serves on the Finance
Committee at Carolina Golf Club and recently served on the City
of Charlotte’s Privatization & Competition Advisory Committee.
John "Chuck" Ramseur, Treasurer
Chuck joined
Succession in 2005 as a part of its first class of members in order
to develop as a leader in his hometown. A native Charlottean, Chuck
has served as a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church since
childhood. He manages the business operations of RPA Design, an
architectural firm that specializes in planning and design for
healthcare facilities. Chuck received a Bachelor of Arts in History
from North Carolina State University, where he was also inducted
into the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Before attending NCSU, Chuck
graduated from Providence Day School in Charlotte.
John Witherington, Advisor
John
Witherington has been a member of Charlotte Succession since
January of 2005. During his time in Succession, John has served
as Chairman of the Membership Committee, has sat on the Board of
Directors since January 2007, and has served as both Vice
President and President.
A native of Memphis, TN, John is a 2003 graduate from Duke
University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta
Kappa with a B.S. degree in Economics. John is a Vice President
at Wells Fargo Securities, where he is an RMBS trader.
In addition to his board position in Succession, John currently
serves on the Development and Engagement Council of the
Securities Investment Group within Wells Fargo, where he
oversees all of recruiting for the investment bank, and is
charged with governing compensation, promotions, and diversity
for the national division. John previously served as the
chairman of the board of NODA School of Arts, a Charlotte-based
non-profit that provides arts education to underserved youth.
Other major activities and affiliations have included or include
the Duke Shooting Team, Childress Klein and Gateway YMCA Golf
Tournament Committee, the Wachovia Securities CIB Diversity
Initiative, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center Producer’s Circle
and Young Donor’s Society, Charlotte Young Life and WyldLife,
Alexander Youth Network, and the Metrolina Aids Project.
